C.M. Magdalen Twiss

Entered into eternal life peacefully at home on February 5, 2019 at the age of 95.  

Born in Ligoniel, Belfast Ireland.  Served in the British army during WWII.  Met her beloved husband Richard Twiss in England after the war.  They married in 1949 and had 3 sons prior to immigrating to the United States.  In 1954 they arrived in the America and settled in NJ where their family grew to six children, all whom she was very proud of, and was blessed to have.   They retired to Wilmington NC in 1990.  In Wilmington Magdalen served many years as a hospital volunteer, a member of the Church of Saint Mary Alter society and social outreach ministry.  Magdalen loved her daily Mass and her Irish heritage.  She enjoyed visiting her many grandchildren and was always happiest when the family was together and where she would often say “isn’t this nice”.  

She was predeceased by her sister Philomena, brothers Brian and Seamus, and her beloved son Patrick.  She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories with her loving husband Richard of 69 years, her children, Brian, Richard and wife Cliffie, Maura and husband Neil, Kate, Edward and wife Noreen, daughter in-law Georgette, Ex daughter-in-law Marlene, brothers Patrick and wife Beth, Sean and wife Joan, her grandchildren Jason and his wife Claudia, Brandon and his wife Julieta, Matthew, Conor and Fiancé Lauren, Joseph and wife Alexandra, Michael, Molly, Anna, Clare, Megan, Benjamin, Colin, and great grandchildren Christian, Korben, Alayna, Matthew, William and Ella, and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 9th at 10:30 am at St. Francis Chapel, Pocono Road, Denville, NJ 07834. Burial will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. Memorial Donations are being accepted to Cape Fear Clinic, 1605 Doctors Circle, Wilmington, NC 28401. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share a special memory with her family.
