Obituary of Robert Thomas Whaley

Robert Thomas "Tom" Whaley passed away at his home in Rockaway Twp., NJ on January 19, 2019, at the age of 73. Born in Pontiac, MI he had lived in New Brunswick, NJ for 40 years before moving to Rockaway Twp. in 2015. Robert proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While he was stationed at Fort Monmouth he met Delores R. Barbano who would shortly become his wife for 48 years to come. He loved watching local sports teams, playing golf, grilling at family barbecues, playing card games with family and friends, and adult coloring. He worked as a manager for Burroughs Corporation in both New Jersey and Michigan, worked at a number of other companies for short amounts of time, before retiring as a courier in 2014 to take care of his beloved wife. Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife Delores in 2016. He is survived by his sons Brian Whaley of Morristown, NJ and Jason Whaley of New Brunswick, NJ as well as his grandchildren John, Nicholas, Brittany, Robert, Ethan, Lily, Devon, Michael, and Tyler. Visitation will be held on Sunday January 27, 2019, from 2-5PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 28, at 10:00AM at the funeral home and then going to Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
