Obituary of Phyllis W. Clark

Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Phyllis W. Clark, 93, of Denville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville.

Born and raised in Haskell to the late George and Jesse Whetham, she was one of four children. After graduating High School, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from Jersey City State College and made a very successful 18 year career for herself as the Substitute School Nurse for the Kinnelon Public School District. She was a very dedicated and devout member of Midvale United Methodist Church in Midvale.

Phyllis was a social butterfly with a contagious laugh and smile. She made friends very easily, especially at Cook’s Pond in Denville where she resided since 2010 before spending the last three months at Boonton Care Center. She was also an avid Yankees fan. She will forever be remembered in our hearts and souls.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold V.D. Clark, and her siblings, Dorothy Van Dine, Lawrence Whetham, and Clifford Whetham, she leaves only cherished memories to her loving children, Craig Clark and his wife Linda, Glenn Clark and his wife Sandra, and Pamela DeCosta and her husband Neville; her treasured grandchildren, Matthew DeCosta, Justin DeCosta and his wife Karolina, Tara Clark and her husband Sam, Katherine Clark, and Rachel Clark; her adored great-grandchildren, Lucy, Marcus, and Jack; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, January 12th at 3 pm at Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church, 38 Valley Road, Boonton Township, NJ  07005. Family and friends may visit with the family from 2 – 3 pm prior to the Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are being accepted to Midvale United Methodist Church, 490 Ringwood Avenue, Wanaque, NJ 07465.
