Obituary of David Menzies McDougall
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Menzies McDougall passed away after a brief struggle with lung cancer on January 8, 2019, at the age of 68 with his loving wife and son, Justin, beside him.
Born in Perth, Scotland he moved to the United States in 1953, and grew up in Hawthorne, NJ and lived in Wyckoff before moving to Randolph, NJ 25 years ago.
David worked as a manager for Verizon in Newark, NJ for 35 years before retiring in 2003. He then worked in the Randolph Schools as a Site Coordinator in the Before and Aftercare Program and as a substitute teacher. He loved spending time at his vacation home in Hilton Head, SC, the companionship of his Vizslas, Ace & Luna, reading, solving word and number puzzles and took great pleasure from designing and implementing home renovation projects. He also received great enjoyment from playing sports and coaching all of the children's teams. David was an active member of the Church of the Saviour in Denville, NJ, recently serving on the Vestry and Chairing the Property Committee. He was very grateful for all the blessings of his life and especially for the love of his family, his sobriety and the support of his friends from the St Matt's morning meetings.
He was predeceased by his parents Menzies and Margaret and brother William McDougall.
David is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Diane D. (Mullaney) McDougall of Randolph, NJ and by his children Matthew McDougall (Maria) of Medford, NJ, Cortney McDougall (Dan Geise) of Carbondale, CO, and Justin McDougall (Mariah Cavett) of Minnetonka, MN. He is also survived by his stepsons Matthew Haun of Randolph, NJ and Joseph Haun of Roxbury, NJ and his grandchildren Kai McDougall, Kenzie McDougall and Sam Geise. He is also survived by sister in laws Judy McDougall and Linda Mullaney (Chris Takacs).
