Obituary of Ciro Scarpulla

Please share a memory of Ciro to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ciro “Skip” Scarpulla, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.  He shared 90 years of love, faith and baked goods with his family and friends.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 5th at 10 am at St. Bernard’s Parish, Rockaway.  Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 4th from 1-4 pm at the Norman Dean Home for Service, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville.

Ciro was born in Hoboken in 1928 to the late Joseph and Frances Scarpulla.  After his schooling he served our country in the US Army.  He took over the family business, Scarpulla’s Bakery, and provided a good life for his family with his wife Gloria.  They shared 60 beautiful years of marriage raising their five daughters and regularly hosting Italian style Sunday dinners in their home.   He retired from the City of Hoboken when he was 62 but quickly found new passions and kept busy.   He learned to play the piano and continued to perfect his baking for his loved ones.  He also enjoyed pinochle and horse racing.  He was a proud father and grandfather “Bop”.

Predeceased by his wife Gloria, his daughter Gloriann, his granddaughter Isabella Rose, his son in law Steve Figurelli, and two sisters;  he leaves beautiful memories to his daughters Karen Drumm (Charles), JoAnn Palmieri (Louis), Fran Figurelli, and Judith Scarpulla (Vincent Pugliano); his adored grandchildren, Dante, Joseph, Dana, Vanessa, Ryan, Nick, Amanda, Erica, and Vittorio; precious great-grandsons Lucas, Hunter and Colten; his dear sisters Susanna McInerney and Connie Vecchione and loving relatives, friends and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in his name to the good work of The Fighting Children’s Cancer Foundation, 55 Lane Road, Suite 300, Fairfield, NJ 07004. www.fccf.info
