John walked Sally and me to the bus and helped carry our luggage as we left to go to Ireland on the Saturday before he died. Little did we know it would be our last time together.
We will miss you immeasurably. Our hearts are broken. Maisie

I spent hours in the Hospital with your Dad the night you were born. I was your Godmother. I loved you more than I ever told you. I got married and Noel loved you almost as much as I did. I can’t express in words how much we will miss you. I will miss your calls with silly jokes and your calls offering to help with anything we could possibly need. I will miss our lunches in the City. I could go on and on. I hope you are very very happy wherever you are.

We have such heavy hearts to hear this sad news. John was our neighbor and our friend. We have such wonderful memories of him, his laughter, (his dancing), and mostly, his generosity. I believe if everyone wrote of his kindnesses, it would wrap around the moon. RIP John

I met John at the Rattlesnake after my family and I moved to Denville. I got to know him better because I worked at Restaurant Depot and John was a customer. Some people know how to treat people...others don't. John knew how to treat people. What I write next is a true reflection of the person he was. After Hurricane Irene my house was a total loss. After many long days of cleaning my insurance company gave me the OK to dispose of a lot of furniture etc... My wife and I were exhausted. John saw me and asked if he could help. The next thing I knew John and a crew of rugby guys came to our rescue. What would have taken me hours took minutes. I thanked him and he simply said "No problem glad we could help" I was physically and mentally drained and his kindness lifted my spirits. I hope he realized how thankful I was. I cried after he left. I am crying now as I write this
God speed John
Thank You

Johnny wasn't a friend but a brother. His infectious laugh and stories will always be remembered. His heart was full of gold and everyone in his life shared it. He put everything he had into all his friendships and I for one wish I had given back as much as he gave. I will cherish the memories we shared from growing up together to living together. RIP my brother you will always be with me.

Words can't even begin to describe what I felt when I heard the news of John's passing. My heart stopped and when it started to beat again it was loud and off rhythm for this comes only weeks after my brothers passing. I have learned that the world we know can be cruel at times, but that John was never one that I would put in that category.
We have truly has lost another "great". John's loving, giving and compassionate personality will be missed by each and every person who he touched, especially my boys Hudson and Harper.
I know in my heart of hearts that he was greeted with my sisters bright smile and loving arms. I can only imagine the party that is going on in heaven at this time.
To the entire Cahillane Family - from the bottom of my heart I am sorry for your loss.

Our hearts are broken in my family, by this impossible to understand loss. John was the most generous-hearted man ever. The line of people on the receiving end of his generosity and love would span the earth. Deepest condolences to his mom and family, and our thanks to them for having shared John with us
