Joan Royer passed suddenly on Friday, October 5, 2018. She shared 62 years of love and joy with her family. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 9th at 7:30 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Visiting hours will be from 2-4 & 6-8 that day. Donations in her name may be made to the good work of Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org. Please share your memories here. Her family will cherish them forever.
Joan was born in August of 1956 and was one of five children to bless John and Marion Plavier. She grew up in Paterson and graduated from Kennedy High School. Joan and Ken met as neighbors when they were fifteen, became high school sweethearts and eventually married in 1981. They settled in Rockaway to start a family of their own. Joan was an amazing wife, Mother, friend and avid lover of the outdoors. She always put her family first and was so very proud of her children. When she was at home she could be found reading or listening to music, especially Joni Mitchell. Outside of her home, she enjoyed cycling, kayaking, gardening and the beach. She loved being outdoors and loved the history of her hometown of Paterson. Some of her favorite places included Cape Cod, Vermont and Island Beach State Park. Above everything, Joan adored her grandchildren. The sun rose and set on her beloved Aubrey and Jason. Although we are broken hearted by her passing, we know we have an Angel watching over this family with love and guiding them along the way.
Predeceased by her parents and her siblings Patricia Plavier and John Michael Plavier; she leaves beautiful memories to her husband Ken of 37 years; her children Janay Revis (Scott) and Justin (Jennifer Whittaker); her grandchildren Aubrey and Jason Revis; her sisters Jeanne Longo (the late Chuck Longo) and Maureen McHale (the late Leo); her sister in law Tammy Plavier; and many more dear relatives and friends.
