Donna Cook

Obituary of Donna Jean Cook

Please share a memory of Donna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Donna Jean Cook, of Dover, passed away suddenly in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. She was 62 years young.

Born and raised in Denville to Dorothy Wiedman and the late Richard, she was one of five children. In 1980, she married her soulmate and best friend, Edward J. Cook, and together they relocated to Dover to raise their family. Along with Edward, Donna was a very talented bowler; when she was in her prime, she won many tournaments.

Donna broke the mold when she was born with her always-positive outlook on life, her jokester personality, and the compassion that she had for animals, nature, and especially people. Anyone who had the privilege of having her in their life knew the kindness, selflessness, and supportive woman she was. Donna would truly give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She had a passion for all animals, making sure to feed any critter who wandered into her backyard. She had a special place in her heart for birds, especially cardinals and peregrine falcons. Donna was a proud member of Rochester, NY Falcon Watch.

Above anything else, Donna’s family was her first priority. As we come into the Fall and holiday season, we ask that you keep Donna’s family in your thoughts and prayers, as this was her favorite time of the year. She would decorate the entire house with items, including items that she would craft and paint herself. There is no one with a heart as big as hers was and that will always be remembered and treasured for an eternity. She will be sorely missed.

We find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved husband of 38 years, Edward J. Cook. Left to keep her legacy of unconditional love alive are her adored children, Kara Cook and Sean Cook and his fiancé Jessica Murphy; her treasured granddaughter, Olivia Cook; her cherished Mom, Dorothy Wiedman; her loving father-in-law, Edward A. Cook; her caring siblings, Ricky, Denny and his wife Dee, and Wayne Wiedman, and Cindy Ackerman and her husband Bob; and her newly adopted worshiped kitten, Magee.
