Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph Goncalves, of Parsippany, passed away peacefully at Boonton Care Center on Saturday September 15, 2018, at the age of 93.
Joseph was born in Newark, NJ and was a graduate of East Side High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal on an Army Ship throughout the South Pacific during WWII.
Joseph moved his family to Parsippany in 1965, and remained in the same house for the last 53 years. He was a Quality Control Supervisor for Ceragraphic of Hackensack, NJ, before retiring in 1986. Joseph enjoyed going to the theater, listening to classical music, watching sports, and spending time with his beloved grandson. He was a fantastic husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend that will be greatly missed and will be forever treasured in our memories.
Surviving are his loving children, Jackie Rizzo of Rockaway, NJ and Joseph M. Goncalves of Parsippany, NJ and Weatherly, PA. Joseph also is survived by sister Hilda Goncalves of Randolph, NJ and grandson Michael Rizzo of San Diego, CA.
He was predeceased by his parents Manuel and Joaquina Goncalves, his beloved wife Rose (nee) De Luca, sister Marie Bevacqua, and son in law Richard Rizzo.
Public visitation will be held on Friday, September 21st from 4-8 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 22nd at 10 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
