Dick Gebhardt was my uncle, but he also fulfilled the role of friend in my life. And in some respects, a role model. Along with my mother, he dutifully cared for his mother, who lived in an apartment above the pet shop in Denville. At family holiday gatherings, he had a keen eye for personalities & decorum, and always had time to engage us younger attendees. His quick wit provided many laughs, as well as provided insight into social encounters. The continual banter between he & John always kept the mood light, and cemented our relationship over time. I will miss him for sure. My condolences to John, your relationship was what allowed him to be successful and happy!

Over the years we had many happy meetups with Dick and John at the Second Half in Denville until the fire. Good times were had by all and we have fond memories of those days. Dick was a special friend and he will be missed. Our condolences to John and the family. The Gang from Whippany.

When my husband and I were newly married we stopped in Mr. Gebhardt’s store in Denville. You could tell that he was devoted to the cats he was raising. We were fortunate enough to purchase a beautiful blue Persian kitten who was from Mr.Gebhardt’s champion and we named our kitten VooDoo. He was a wonderful kitten and grew up to be a wonderful companion to both of us. My sincere condolences to Mr. Bannon, and a thank you to Mr. Gebhardt for allowing us to share in his love of cats. In addition, he was a great judge. Sincerely Linda O’Dell
