I am truly sorry and saddened by the passing of your mom Lila. I remember the fist time I met your mom. We were all visiting at grandma Kate's house in East Patchogue NY. It was the Sunday visit! I was with my dad, your (Uncle Wally). She was with my cousin Vinny, your dad. I was very young. I remember how kind she was to me. I remember thinking she is so nice and she doesn't even really know me. She made me feel like I was important to her and for a very young shy girl that was impressionable! Every time I saw her through the years, here and there, Talking with her was so easy. She was interesting and fun to talk to. I didn't get to see her much but she has left a wonderful mark in my memory of her. My thoughts and prayers to all of you. I'm sure she is watching over all of her children and grandchildren.
With love
Cousin

We would like to express our sincere condolences to Lila's family.
The Rolfsen family moved into our neighborhood (Morris Plains, NJ) in the late 1950's, our homes were across the street from each other. Lila & Louise were schoolmates with myself & my younger sister, Judy. We have very fond memories of times spent with the Rolfsen family.
When I think of Lila, I can still see that wonderful smile on her face. She was a good friend and will be truly missed.
Very best regards,
Tom Buck and Judy Hanf (Buck)

Dear Lila’s family,
What an absolute loving lady, and an example of an unselfishness being who just departed our world. It is a great loss indeed to everyone who had the blessings and the privilege of knowing her, and we’re very proud to be considered part of this extended family.
Lila, I will never forget how you made me feel at ease around you. God is now waiting for you with his open arms to reciprocate all the love you have spread here on earth.
Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with all of your family at this very difficult time.
With lots of love and care always,
Suellen & Fidelis

To Torill, Ingrid, and Kjell,
My heart goes out to all of you. I know very well how strong your family bond is and how devastating it is to have lost both of your parents. Coming from a close family myself, I can't imagine how you must feel and I pray for your hearts to heal.
My memories of your mother are very clear. She was one of the kindest people I have ever met. I still laugh when I think about how sweet she was to set up a table of refreshments for a bunch of rowdy teenagers whenever we decided to take over her house. The table would be full of Little Debbie Swiss Rolls, broccoli, carrots, chips and dip. This might seem like a small memory, but it was much more than that. Your mother knew it was important to keep her kids close to home and that is why she welcomed everyone and anyone who walked through her door- no questions asked. She allowed us to figure things out and grow up together in a safe place. For this reason I am so grateful for her and your family. I have many fond memories that come from the Stephani house.
My prayers and heart are reaching out to all of you. You all made your mother and father proud and it's because of them you are such genuine people.
Love to you all!
Jackie Myers

I had the pleasure of working with Lila at Stony Brook School. She was always so kind, caring and loving to her students and everyone. She even took a student who had never been sled riding out in the back of school to show them what it was like. That was important to her - to share all the goodness in life with everyone. I always admired her sea blue eyes - amazing!!! She was so very proud of each of her own children - spoke of their accomplishments with deep pride!
The world was a much better place because of Lila! She will be missed.

Lila- I will miss you! I really enjoyed getting to know you and honored to be part of the family. You were such an amazing person with the kindest heart and thoughtful mind. You raised 3 exceptional children and know that you were so proud of each one of them. I’m lucky to have married Torill and promise to always take care of her(and enjoy the Norwegian traditions). I’m happy our boys were able to know you. Mick would always ask for you and both their eyes lit up when they would see you. I will always remember you and keep you in my thoughts. Love Always - Mike

My memories of Lila and Vinny were that they were the cool cousins from “Jersey”. They always brought a smile and a sense of calm I always admired. It was clear Family was the key. We always loved just hanging out at Stephani Days or different holidays. God bless the whole family! I’m sure there is a cool family reunion up in heaven right now! Love and hugs to you all. ❤️
