Obituary of Ernest Hutter

Please share a memory of Ernest to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ernest Emil Hutter, of Rockaway Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Passaic. He was 76 years old.

Born and raised in Brooklyn to the late Emil and Sophie Hutter, Ernie was an only child. He graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Chemistry. Ridgewood, Queens is where he met and married the love of his life, Edie. They married, started their family, and then relocated to Clifton, NJ. Since attending college, Ernie had a knack and passion for his job as a Transportation Manager. A very smart and dedicated employee, Ernie was an asset to several companies over the years including Rheingold Breweries in Brooklyn, Crane Company in Manhattan, and most recently, Thomas’ Bakery in Greenwich, CT.

Ernie was a parishoner of St. Clement Pope & Martyr Church and a member of Deutscher Club of Clark, NJ, and Germania Park in Rockaway. Every Saturday night you could find him dancing with his Edie, while Sundays were family days on Lake Hopatcong. They loved to travel taking trips to Europe and Lake George, among other places. Above anything else, he adored spending time with his grandson, Christopher. Ernie was a loving and nurturing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be sorely missed.

Left to continue his legacy is his beloved wife of 49 years, Edie; his loving children, Eddie & Chrissy; and his cherished grandson, Christopher.

Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 7th from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 8th at 10 am at St. Clement Pope & Martyr Church, 154 Mt Pleasant Ave, Dover, NJ 07801.
