Obituary of Joseph Filipkowski
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joseph D. Filipkowski. Please continue to keep Joe and his family in your hearts and minds.
"A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.”
-The Wizard
Joseph Filipkowski passed away at home on Monday, June 25th. He was 43 years young and was predeceased by his mother Laura and father Edward. Joe had a quick wit, an unforgettable laugh, a big heart and was amazing at helping others in need. He had a very special and close relationship with his mother. Joe was steadfast in his love and care for her, as he stayed close by her side during her long battle with cancer. He was also a talented mechanic for Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler for a number of years and shared this love of cars with his father. They spent many weekends at the racetrack together, where Joe would run the pit crew for the modified stock car his father would race. Throughout his life, Joe had an affinity for the guitar and loved being outdoors to have moments of reflection or share deep conversations with those closest to him. He was close with his grandfather “pop” and would spend many summers helping him with his garden. Joe had a sensitive heart and an old soul. His passing was sudden and he will be missed immensely, but he leaves many lasting memories for those that remain here to celebrate his life. His battle here on earth is over and his restless heart is finally at peace. We take comfort in knowing he is in the company of those who have gone before him and reunited with his loyal feline Sadie.
In addition to the many dear friends, acquaintances, and support systems in his life, Joe leaves fun and loving memories to his Aunt Nancy & Uncle Bob Bialek, nephew Jeffrey, niece Danielle, cousins Tammy Bialek, Tim Bialek and his wife Nadine, Cheryl, Jessica and Melissa Szeman, as well as his Step-Siblings Dixie Underhill, Walter Albro, Judith Bollinger, Terry Burson and Michael Albro.
Visiting hours will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville on Saturday, June 30th from 10 am – 12 noon, with a Memorial Service beginning at 11:30am.
Donations in his memory may be made to the good work of Homeless Solutions Shelter 6 Dumont Place, 3rd Floor Morristown, NJ 07960 or by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
We love you Joe. It’s ok.
