Obituary of Gerard Russo
Gerard “Jerry” “The Big Guy” Russo passed away peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home. Jerry was 67 years young.
Born in Morristown, he was raised in Denville to the late Robert and Jean Russo. One of nine children, Jerry broke the mold when he was born. In 1971 he married his soulmate, Janice Lynn Storck and together they raised their family in Denville. He was the most helpful, selfless, and loyal man that any of us knew. When Jerry walked in, his infectious energy and bright smile would light up any room. A very hard and dedicated worker, he has been an Entrepreneur majority of his life, working up until the day he was taken too soon from this world. For 52 years, he owned and operated his own cookware business. Jerry was a “man’s man” who loved to hunt. Although his family was always his number one priority, he never forgot to take care of all the people who took care of him, no matter how big or small a part they had in his life. He was truly a one of a kind husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His wisdom, unconditional love, and values will always be a part of our soul.
He leaves only joyful memories to his beloved wife of 47 years, Jan; his adored children, Jerry Russo, Jr. and his wife Joanna of Andover and Mandy Sheehan and her husband John of Rockaway Twp.; his cherished grandchildren, Tripp, Sofia, and Brian; his caring siblings, Bobby Russo and his wife Eileen, Johnny Russo and his wife Pat, Jimmy Russo, the late Kenny Russo, Charlie Russo, Maryann Benigno and her husband Tony, Teresa Benevidez and her husband Abe, and Ann Crawn and her husband Dave; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 28th from 4 – 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 29th at 10 am at St. Mary’s RC Church, 15 Myers Ave., Denville. Memorial Donations are being accepted to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please leave a condolence and special memory for his family.
