Obituary of Joseph Daniel Fusco

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

“A hero is someone who has given their life to something bigger than oneself.”

Joseph Daniel Fusco passed away at the age of 29 at his home in West Virginia on June 18, 2018.  His big heart, gratitude and love will be greatly missed but live forever.

He was born in Denville NJ on July 5, 1988, to Frank and Diane Fusco and grew up in Rockaway where he spent his childhood. Graduating from Morris Knolls High School in Denville, he was a member of the award-winning Morris Knolls Marching Band before dedicating himself to the United States Army.  Joseph was a proud and honorably discharged Veteran of the Operation Enduring Freedom War.  He served his country for a total of 7 years, spending 9 months over in Afghanistan, fighting for what he and the country believed in.  He always said, “I am over here fighting for you”. He wanted to continue to help and connect with others who were also veterans, so he moved to Martinsburg, West Virginia where he lived the last year and a half.

You could find him on the slopes snowboarding, in the ring boxing or listening to music and playing video games.  Above all, Joseph was an incredible son, brother, uncle, and friend.  Family and friends were his world and he would do anything to make sure they had a smile on their face.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, June 24 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville.  A prayer service will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home on June 25th. Interment will follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington 07031. Donations in Joseph’s memory are being made to the good works of Semper Fi Fund, an organization that provides a variety of programs to assist wounded veterans by way of https://semperfifund.org/donate/.  Please share a memory or leave a condolence for the family.
