Obituary of Rose Lettera

Please share a memory of Rose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rose Lettera, of Rockaway Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 07, 2018, surrounded by her loving family in St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville. She was 84 years young.

Born and raised in Bronx, NY to the late Frank and Lucy (Salamone) DiMarco, she was one of three children. There, she met the love of her life, Michael P. Lettera. They married in 1951 and settled in Paramus, NJ in 1968 before relocating the Fox Hills section of Rockaway in 2001. While in Paramus, she was a parishioner of Annunciation RC Church and an active member of the Woman’s Club. She was also a member of the Red Hats Society. Rose was a very talented and patient woman. She loved to paint and make arts and crafts. Sometimes, she even tinkered with the piano and organ. Her greatest joy was traveling; she traveled all over the world with Michael, especially enjoying their trips to Italy and Atlantic City. Above anything else, her family was her pride and joy. She adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all of them enjoyed taking annual vacations to their Florida summer home.

Left to keep her legacy of unconditional love alive are her beloved husband of 67 years, Michael P. Lettera, Sr.; her loving children, Dominick Lettera and his wife Ruth of Norwalk, CT, Frank Lettera and his wife Katherine of Whitestone, NY, Michele Cestaro and her husband Marc of Denville, and Michael P. Lettera, Jr. and his wife Gail of North Haledon; her cherished grandchildren, Dominick, Jr., Chistopher and his wife Heather, Michael and his wife Gina, Jenifer, Gina, Joseph and his wife Paula, Marc, Gabriella, Kayla, Gianna, and Frank; her treasured great-grandchildren, Grace, Drew, Zac, Mateo, Tomás, Reid, Nicolas, and Eli; her caring siblings, Mary Bernacki and Joseph DiMarco and his wife Carole; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, June 11th at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s RC Church, 15 Myers Ave., Denville, NJ. Burial will be private.
