Obituary of Mary P. Duffy
Mary Duffy, Denville
…And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Mary Duffy passed peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 5, 2018. She shared 83 years of love and Irish blessings with all who knew her. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 12th at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, Denville. Entombment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 11th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Donations in her memory may be made to the good work of The Joey Bella Fund by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
Mary was born in 1934 to the late Frank and Margaret Gately. After her schooling, she met Jack Duffy at a dance. After a whirlwind romance, the couple married on June 18, 1960. They settled in Denville where they raised five children and attended St. Mary’s Church. Mary was an educator and after her kids were all in school, she taught ESL for many years. She was smart and strong and has been known to never miss a jeopardy question in her house. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and taking part in all of the activities that Denville and the Fox Hills community offered. Above all, Mary loved having her family near. She adored her grandchildren and was so very proud of each one. Most recently, she was crowned the title of Great Grandma and was over the moon to welcome the little ones into the Duffy clan. Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is with Jack again, watching over this family.
Predeceased by her husband John “Jack” Duffy (2010) and her sisters Agnes and Marjorie; she leaves beautiful memories to her children Kevin (Roni), Kathy Mosquera (Carlos), Moira Teagarden (Rick Johnson), Megan Mahoney (John) and Ellen Pietrucha ( Matthew); her adored grandchildren Erin Duffy, Michael, Kristin and Riley Mahoney, Christopher, Matthew, Dylan and Kelly Mosquera, Riane, Regan, Connor, Madison and Liam Teagarden and Jack, Maggie and Michael Pietrucha; her great grandchildren Silas, Carson and Jack; and many more dear relatives, friends and neighbors.
