Obituary of Shirley Anne Nielsen

Shirley Anne Nielsen Peer (Doell) of Rockaway, NJ passed away at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ on April 13, 2018, at the age of 90.
Born in Morristown on August 3, 1927 to Thomas Doell and Anna Doell (Brower), she attended Mt. Tabor Grammar School, Boonton High School, Dover Business College and the County College of Morris, receiving a degree in accounting.
She was a sales manager for American Radar Components in Denville where she worked for over 25 years. She was a member of Vasa, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Rockden Post #175, Rockaway Rebekah Lodge #86 of the Odd Fellows. She attended the office of President Rebekah State Assembly of New Jersey. It should be noted, this office is like being District Master in the Vasa Order. She is also a member of the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary, Hornet #6 of Perth Amboy, NJ. Shirley joined Frithiof Lodge #63 on December 4, 1968 and is cardholder #490. She held the office of Financial Secretary from 1973 to 1991, and Treasurer from 1992 to 2008. She was also a member of Firthiof's "Colonial Dancers". This group performed during this country's Bicentennial, they were dressed in colonial attire.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Charles Daniel Peer in 1981, whom she married on March 22, 1947. She was also predeceased by her second husband Irving Nielsen whom she married on October 25, 1989.
She is survived by her loving children C. Daniel Peer Jr. of Netcong, NJ and Robin Ann Peer of Rockaway, NJ.
Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday April 17, 2018, from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday April 18, at 10:30AM at the Rockaway Presbyterian Cemetery 35 Church St. Rockaway, NJ 07866.
