Obituary of Edward Cassinis
Edward Cassinis of Denville, NJ passed away on March 27, 2018 at the age of 93 surrounded by his family. He was a resident at The Oaks in Denville for 12 years. His love and selflessness will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He grew up in West New York, NJ to Bernard and Linda Cassinis (Nee Monti). Edward proudly served his country in the United States Navy, Air Force, during World War II. Following his commitment to the Navy he attended Steven’s Institute of Technology and obtained his bachelors degree. He worked as an engineer and then as a business owner of a textiles company.
You were most likely to find Edward on the basketball court shooting hoops, which he was well known for, on the golf course, or listening to music and dancing.
He brought his love for sports into his children’s lives and became both a basketball and little league coach. Edward and his wife loved to travel and go on road trips. They had the chance to visit all of the 50 States. Above all Edward was a wonderful husband, father and friend.
He leaves happy memories to his beloved wife of 37 years Virginia Cassinis (Mealey); loving children Gary Cassinis, Elaine Cassinis and Joan Salvaterra; four grandchildren and many other dear relatives and friends.
Family and friends are welcome to visit with the family on Sunday, April 1st from 4-7 pm at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 2nd at 9:30 am at Saint Catherine’s of Sienna Church, 10 North Pocono Road, Mountain Lakes. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Mausoleum, 61 Whippany Road, Morristown. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Catherine’s of Siena Church by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
