Obituary of Robert McCloskey
Robert Paul McCloskey passed away on March 27, 2018, at the age of 85.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, Robert has called Denville home since 1959.
Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then attended college at St. Peters in Jersey City, NJ. He continued his dedication to service at the community level, serving as Town Committeeman, Fire and Police Commissioner. Robert was Owner and President of E.J. Stewart Electric and was a noted builder and developer.
Robert loved family life and was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting; fishing and canoeing on the lake he built with his sons. He was a loving husband of 63 years to his wife, Florence, a guiding father to his children and doting grandfather. Robert will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all those he loved and who loved him in return.
His son James McCloskey and his daughter Mary Beth Blom predecease him. Robert is survived by his beloved wife Florence J. (Trainor) McCloskey of Denville. He is also survived by his loving children Robert McCloskey of Denville, Ann E. Brown of Newtown, CT, and Kate Erdmann of Bryant, AR. A loving grandfather, he is also survived by his 11 grandchildren. James Patrick, Rory, Kara, Ian, Kaia, Hailey, Conor, Lara, Holt, Eric and Mark.
A memorial visitation will be held at Norman Dean, Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com on Tuesday April 3, 2018, from 8:30AM to 9:30AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Mass at St. Mary's Church in Denville at 10:00AM. Memorials are being accepted to The Alzheimer's Association by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org. Please leave a special memory and condolence for his family.
