Obituary of Anita D. Shaw
Anita D. Shaw passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at The Oaks in Denville. She was 85 years old. A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 28th at 10:30am at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 10 Pocono Road Rd., Mountain Lakes. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations remembrance of her to the St Jude’s Children’s Hospital by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org. Please leave a condolence and special memory for her family.
Anita was born in Philadelphia in 1932 to Louise and Dominic DiMascio. She attended the Philadelphia School of Office Training and worked for the Allstate Insurance Co. prior to marrying her late husband Robert. They lived in various parts of New Jersey before settling and raising their family in Mountain Lakes. For many years Anita was a teacher’s aide at the Lake Drive School. She was a member of the parish of St Catherine’s Church for over 50 years.
She helped her husband form Shaw Built Homes Inc., but her greatest joy came from being a mother, grandmother and, most recently, a great-grandmother. She taught her children that there is “a place for everything and everything in its place”. Known to her four grandchildren as “Grandy” she was always prepared for impromptu pool parties, sleepovers and lunchtime drop-ins, during which they learned the art of ear wiggling along with social graces.
Anita will be greatly missed by her children Pamela Burzynski (John), Robert Jr. (Juan Barrera), and Stephen (Cynthia); grandchildren Scott Burzynski, Megan Kern (Joshua), Matthew (Jessica) and Catherine Shaw; and great-grandson Simon Kern.
