Obituary of Joseph William Chisari

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joseph William Chisari passed away peacefully at his home in Indian Lake, Denville surrounded by his family.  He was 83 years old and his love and laughter will live on in the hearts of everyone he knew.

Joseph was born in Paterson, NJ to Antonio and Rose Chisari (Pierro).  He graduated from high school and following was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He served his country with pride, honor and dignity for two years.  Following the service, he worked as a sales representative for many paint and wall covering companies.  He was currently employed at Patton Wall Covering.  He was a hard worker and loved his job.  He became close friends with many of his customers and continued to work up until he became too ill to drive.  In his down time you could find him swinging his golf clubs out on the course.  Joseph was a faithful member at St. Mary’s RC Church.  Above all in his life, he took the most joy in his family; he was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Joseph is predeceased by his first son Joseph and sisters Dorothy DeAlesandro and Dolores Verga.  He leaves happy memories to his beloved wife of 59 years Lynn Chisari; loving children Stephen (Carol) Chisari, David (Gail) Chisari and Lisa (William) Makowitz; adoring grandchildren William Jr., Justin, Matthew, Joseph, Bryan, Dana and Kristen; caring siblings Anthony (Margaret) Chisari and Josephine Giudice and many wonderful nieces and nephews and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects on Thursday, March 8 from 3-7 pm at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 9 at 10 am at St. Mary’s RC Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville and interment will follow at Denville Cemetery.  In his memory donations may be made to the good works of St. Jude Children’s Hospital by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.  Please share a memory or leave a condolence for the family.
