Obituary of Karen Mulrenan

Karen Mulrenan passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 23, 2018, at the young age of 51. Born in Kearny, she grew up in East Newark and Harrison before moving to Rockaway, and then to Denville, NJ 10 years ago. Karen with her beautiful smile that she always wore, believed in the power of family, joy and love, and acted as the peacemaker in the family while at the same time encouraged competitiveness in a good natured way. She was a bright spirit and was always talking about how much she loved to help people and how she always wished she could do more, even in death she wanted to make sure she helped people by donating her organs. She could often be heard stating her moto: "life is too short to be spent being angry". Karen was an avid NJ lottery player, loved the NY Giants, and was a world champion cheerleader in 1984. Karen worked as Senior Operations Manager at Advantage Business Media in Rockaway, NJ for 12 years. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Calautti and her brother Robert Thompson. Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years Darryl Mulrenan, and her loving son Liam Mulrenan of Denville, NJ. Her mother Margaret Calautti of Clarksville, IN and her siblings Margaret Doran of Succasunna, NJ, Christina Leverock of Clarksville, IN, Joseph Calautti of Paterson, NJ, Laura Calautti of New Albany, IN, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Liturgy of Christian Burial Mass will be held on Wednesday January 31, 2018, at 10am at St. Mary's Church in Denville, NJ. Friends may visit with the family at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com. on Tuesday from 4-8PM.
