Brooke White, Longtime Manhattan Resident

 

S. Brooke White passed away on January 3, 2018.  Born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 11, 1926, he was known affectionately as “Brooke” to all his friends and family. Brooke was raised in Louisiana, predominantly in Baton Rouge.   A WWII veteran, Brooke joined the ROTC program at Tulane when he came of age and served as a Navy Officer.  Following the war, he settled in New York City and pursued a successful advertising career as both a creative and account executive.   In his long and rewarding career, he worked at Madison Avenue’s top advertising Agencies inlcuding:  BBDO, Lennen and Newell, Y&R, Wunderman Riccota and Klein and more.  He is credited with creating memorable campaigns for his blue chip clients.

He is predeceased by his wife, Anna Marie Barlow, a Broadway playwright and screen writer.  He is survived by his daughters Annella White-Dignes and Alora White-Chirchick and 4 grandchildren Kelsey, Kenzi and Blake Dignes and Avery Chirchick.

A beloved father, grandfather and friend;  Brooke will be forever remembered for his strong, loving and guiding hand; his quick wit; his great laugh and his tremendous sense of humor.

A Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 1 pm at St. James Church, 865 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10021.

 

Interment of ashes to take place in June at the Union Cemetery in Placerville, Ca. 

 

For ancestry purposes, Brooke's given name is Samuel Brooke White, Jr. His father was Samuel Brooke White Sr., and his mother was Blanche Allen White Wood.

 

Memorial Donations are being accepted to Altitude for Alzheimers and Peaks for Parkinsons. This charity was near and dear to Brooke's heart because his grandson founded it at NYU to honor his grandmother, Brooke's Wife, Anna Marie in 2014. The funds will be used to further neurological research for dementia and other brain diseases that cause debilitating effects.
