Obituary of Katherine "Hazel" Maxey
Katherine “Hazel” Maxey, of Rockaway, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Forest Manor Healthcare Center in Hope, NJ after a courageous battle with dementia. She was 85 years young.
Born in Morristown to the late Frank and Elizabeth Carpenter, Hazel was a graduate of Rockaway High School, class of 1950. She then went on to work at Reaction Motors of Denville and Mt. Hope Mine of Rockaway before going on to work at A & A Addressing Machine & Sales in Bloomfield, NJ before retiring. Her interests included making arts & crafts as well as spending time with her cherished dogs.
Predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Frank Maxey, Jr., she leaves only fond memories to her loving daughters, Sharon Lundy and her husband Alan of Belvidere, NJ and Diane Hoyt and her husband Chris of Arlington, VT; her caring sister, Jane Hopler and her husband Peter; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Public Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 11th from 11 – 1 pm with Funeral Service beginning at 1 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834. Burial will follow at Rockaway Presbyterian Cemetery, Rockaway. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Hazel’s memory to the ASPCA, 424 East 92nd St., New York, NY 10128. Please leave a condolence and special memory for her family.
