Obituary of Ruth Ann Haas

Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ruth Ann Haas passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center. She was 78 years young.

Ruth was born to the late Herman and Marie Schmidt and raised in Newark. She was a member of Rockaway Borough Seniors. Anyone who knew Ruth, knew she was born to be a Mom. Her first priority in life was to be the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that she could be. Words such as kind, compassionate, and giving do not come close to how phenomenal she was at being all of those. She had a heart of gold and was always there for anyone who needed her, willing to do anything they asked of her. Her legacy of benevolence and affection will live on for an eternity in all who had the pleasure of her company.

She leaves only joyful memories to her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, George R. Haas; her loving children, Bob (Caryn) Haas of Jacksonville, FL, Carole (Jim) Bixler of Flanders, Diane Shaw of Colonia, and Karyn (David) Christiansen of Rockaway Twp.; her cherished grandchildren, Eric and Steven Haas, Glenn (Coline) Kukan, Shannon, Kevin, and Keith Kukan, Shane (Nicole) Kukan, Ryan Kukan, Casey and Christie Shaw, Nikki (Mike) Avino, and Taylor and Jon Christiansen; her treasured great-grandchildren, Shantel, Martel, Jr., Tristin, and future great-grandson, Lucas, whom she already adored; her dear departed brother, Robert “Bob” Illig and her sister-in-law, Veronica “Roni” Illig; her kitty cat, Mindy Sue; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19th from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 20th at 9:30 am at Norman Dean Home for Services. Burial will follow at Denville Cemetery, Denville. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Ruth’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org. Please leave a condolence and special memory for her family.
