Obituary of William Thomas Miller
William Thomas Miller passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center. He was 88 years young.
Born to the late Charles and Catherine Miller, he was raised with his sister, Rita, in Newton, NJ. A proud Marine Veteran, Bill served in the Korean War. Shortly after coming home from the war, he met and married Joyce H. Tilley and together they settled in Denville and started their family. Bill was a very talented man at many things, and became a very skilled Electrician, working for over 30 years with IBEW Local 581(102). He was an avid bowler from 1955 – 2015 and was a self-taught piano and organ player. Bill was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and the GCA-RC Club since 1973 and built many museum quality model airplanes.
He was the type of man that would help anyone with anything they needed, whether it was fixing, building, painting, or teaching, the community went to him for help. Bill was very accomplished in many things, and loved by all who had the pleasure of having him in their presence. He always saw the good in people and never spoke a bad word about anyone. He was always on time, always looking sharp, and will forever be treasured and remembered in that way in our hearts and souls.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joyce, left to keep his legacy alive are his caring sons, William (Melanie) Miller of Dover, James (Sharon) Miller of East Stroudsburg, and Glenn (Liliana) Miller of Budd Lake; his cherished grandchildren, Kerry, Jennifer, Trisha, and Matthew; his treasured great-grandchildren, Devin, Madison, and Shane; his loving companion, Eileen O’Leary; his loyal sister, Rita (Arthur) Frisbie; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family, especially those living in Newfoundland, Canada.
Public Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 20th from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm at Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 21st at 10 am at St. Mary’s RC Church, 15 Myers Ave., Denville. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
