Norma I. Ortiz, of Dover, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville. She was 65 years young.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico to the late Modesto and Marta Burgos, she has been a NJ resident since 1979. An avid Yankees fan, Norma would have either the Yankees game or salsa music blasting when you entered her home. She also loved Bingo, Scratch-Off’s, and going to the casino. Ever since her kids were younger, and all throughout her life, she was the best babysitter. She was also an excellent chef and loved to watch everyone enjoy her cooking. Norma had a sweet soul and loved to be around people and her family. She was the matriarch of her family and will forever be treasured in the hearts and souls of all of those that had the privilege of having her in their life.

Left to keep her legacy alive is her beloved husband of 50 years, Hector Ortiz; her loving children, Alex Ortiz and his wife Olga of Dover, Hector Ortiz and his wife Kathy of Dover, and Marlene Perez and her husband Danny of Mt. Laurel; her cherished grandchildren, Alexia, Kevin, Angelina, Justin, Arianna, Ava, and Annalie; and many siblings, extended family, and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 17th from 1 - 3 & 5 - 7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, Sept. 18th at 10 am Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 63 E Main Street, Rockaway, NJ 07866. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Norma's memory to The American Heart Association by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org. Please leave a condolence and special memory for her family.
