Obituary of Rosalie Zaccone

Rosalie Dalia Zaccone passed away peacefully at her home in Newportville, PA on May 26, 2017, surrounded by her children and family friends after a long illness. She was born May 15, 1923 in Guttenberg, NJ. At the age of four, she moved to Fairview, NJ, where she lived with her parents Sam (Santoro) and Frances (Francesca) Dalia, both deceased, and her brother Peter Dalia, deceased. During World War II, Rosalie joined the women who entered the work force to support the country and worked for Lieutenant Commander Curtis F. Columbia, United States Navy. After the war, she left her job and married her husband, Thomas Zaccone, Sr. She was predeceased by Thomas in 2003. Rosalie worked for Our Lady of Grace Church in Fairview, NJ as parish secretary for two years before moving to Morris County, NJ in 1959. She and her family moved to Denville, NJ in 1964. She resided in the town until 2011, whereupon she moved to Newportville, PA. and lived with her daughter Mary Ann, son-in-law Jan and grandson Vincent. Rosalie worked for the tax assessor's office in Denville Township for 25 years, eventually becoming the tax assessor. She was employed there from 1969 until 1994. She also sat on many township committees. Rosalie really loved working for Denville Township. She also was employed as the tax assessor for Boonton Township and Victory Gardens. Rosalie was a member of St. Mary's Parish and a member of the Monday Denville Senior Citizens Club. She was an avid reader and devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved all animals, especially her devoted canine companion, Manley, now deceased. She also was the sole caregiver for her parents and husband at her home until they passed away. Rosalie was cherished by her family. Rosalie is survived by her loving children, Thomas George Zaccone (Jean Bronock Zaccone), Mary Ann Grossman (Jan Grossman) and Judith Rita Julian (James Julian); by her grandchildren, Lucas J. Mangum, Vincent L. Mangum, Daniel C. K. Hein, Douglas A. G. Hein, Susanne L. Jackson, Jennifer L. Waters and Rocco T. Julian; by her great-grandchildren, Ryan M., Danielle K. and Emily C. Jackson, Alyssa N. Waters and Aiden H. Mangum; and by her faithful canine companion, Scruffy and her four canine friends. All of the lives that Rosalie touched have been bettered by her grace and friendship. Visitation will be at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville on Wednesday, May 31 from 7-9 pm; Thursday, June 1 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 2 at 10 am at St. Mary's RC Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Interment to follow at Denville Cemetery.
