To Walters family I send my deepest condolences. I knew Walter for many years as I was also a P-H employee from 1965 to 1999. Any event that was held by P-H Walter was always there with a huge smile and ready to help no matter where the help was needed. Always asking about other employees and keeping up the latest news of previous employees who were sick or had passed away. Always reliable and always willing to help and full of curiosity on other employees and their health. Knowing Walter, his leaving us so soon will not diminish he still being involved in any current event of former P-H employees and many others that he knew in his life. Walter will always be there. God bless his generous soul.

Dear Nancy,
I was so sorry to hear of Walt's passing. I first met him at Lime Rock in the early 70's when he worked tech inspection with me. He was wearing a Dudley Do Right t-shirt, and from that day on he would always be known as Dudley to me. He was a wonderful man, a great friend and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Nancy and family, I am so sorry to hear of Walter's passing. As you may remember, Walter and I worked together for NJ Bus in Bearnedsville. I last saw him about a year and a half ago when we were both driving students to a school in New Providence. He was a very nice person and a great friend. I know that the world is a better place for having Walter here. My sympathies to you all. Lynn Popelka

Walter was an important part of so many lives, it will be difficult to continue with the very large empty space he filled. Our sockless (even in WINTER) Shiner Bock "advocate" did so much for so many with such enthusiasm. What a privilege to have known him and work with him through the SCCA all these years.

What a terrible loss, especially to you, Nancy!
And how sad I feel seeing all my racing friends here to acknowledge Walt for his greatness and humility.
It reminds me that this community enjoyed the golden age of amateur racing-a Camelot of sorts-that will never be reproduced, and how much Walt and Nancy were a part and cause in the matter of it!
Godspeed old friend

I was so sorry to learn of Walt's untimely passing - he was such a good guy. I got to know him through our monthly MHS reunions and lunches through his wife Nancy and will miss him very much. Just another lesson to remind us to take nothing for granted and enjoy all the good things that life has to offer. It was a privilege to call him a friend in these recent years.

As I grow older, not quite 2 weeks in to my 70's and only a few years behind him, I realize that nearly all of my friends, the people I trust and enjoy, come from our sport of racing, our hobby, not from my business or law practice, and Walt stands very tall among them.
He was there for me during a medical crises in NJ several years ago and simply smiled when I tried to thank him.
He laughed when I offered to buy him some socks to show my appreciation.
I was happy and honored to assist him with "The Flag" at various SCCA events.
Always, at Watkins Glen, New Hampshire, Lime Rock or a convention, he was a trusted partner and friend.
He even took the long way around one morning, when he picked me up at an airport, so I might see the Statue of Liberty at sunrise.
Nancy, you scored a good one.
My very best to you,
'Roy
