Obituary of David Clinton Schmidt
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Clinton Schmidt, of Lake Hopatcong, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Newton, NJ. He was 65 years young.
Born in Morristown, he was raised in Boonton and has been a lifelong Morris County resident. Dave loved trucks and cranes and spent his career driving and operating for several companies, including Jan Packaging, Donald J Parks and most recently Jensen-Koerner Crane Services, Inc. from which he retired after 26 years of service.
Dave enjoyed working with his hands, building, fixing and creating things, as well as climbing and cutting trees. He also relished taking rides on his motorcycle. He had a penchant for doing things to the best of his ability, no matter the task at hand. Although he was taken from us too soon, he has left us with a legacy of important values, respect and devotion that will last forever.
Left to keep his legacy alive are his sons, Christopher Schmidt of Oak Ridge and Rick (Becky) Schmidt of PA; his grandchildren, Adrienne, Skyler, Levi, Apollo, and Athena; his great-grandchild, Gunnar; his sister, Jacqueline (Frank) Wasniewski; and his companion of 20 years, Janet Smith.
Public Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 15th from 4 – 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ 07834. Funeral Service and Burial will be private. Please leave a condolence and special memory for his family.
