I want to express my deep sorrow over the loss of your loved one. Perhaps what I say next will give you some measure of solace.
I knew her only as Mrs. Maurer, my 7th Grade Homeroom, English and Social Studies teacher. Although I did not know it then, she was a teacher of extraordinary ability. I learned many things from her, chief amongst them was the ability to read at the 7 th and then eventually the 8 th grade level. When I entered her class, I was far behind the level of my classmates. But she worked with me until I was finally caught up. How can you thank a teacher for such a gift? I am sure that many of my classmates, prior classes and those that came after have similar stories of the positive impact she had as a teacher at Central in Parsippany, NJ. I do wish that there were more teachers like her. I learned a great deal about her life from the obituary -- she had a wonderful life. May you rest in peace, Mrs Maurer!
