I was so saddened to read about Your dad's paiing. Reading about him brought back so many wonderful memories of growing up in Denvile! My most vivid memory is his whistle when you girls had to go home for dinner - it could be heard throughout the neighborhodd! I know his death will leave a big hole in your heart - he was such a nice, loving man! You are all in my thoughts and prayers!

While I did not know Lieutenant Commander Burton I know Diane. She spoke warmly of her father. Good fathers are so important and should be celebrated. We celebrate this loving life.

Mr. Burton was so very proud of his service to our country. He would come to visit my classes at Riverview and he loved receiving the students' hand-made cards for Veterans Day. He always made a point to send a heartfelt thank you card to our class--even when his vision made it difficult to correspond. God Bless You, Mr. Burton.... Ms. Coiro

Oh my goodness I remember the hula hoops! That really jarred me back in time :) what a beautiful tribute for a wonderful wonderful man! So sorry for your loss, Vera, Diane, Barbara, Flo and Pat. I have such great memories of The Commander, and playing down in your basement when I was so little. And then Diane telling me all he did for the families of fallen soldiers in Vietnam. He truly was an unsung hero who will be missed. Take care and hugs to all of you, love Stacey
