HUSBAND, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, GREAT-GRANDFATHER
Joseph Walter Strapec Jr., “Bud,” passed away peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2016.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11 am at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. Burial to follow at the Denville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may visit on Tuesday, November 22nd from 3-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests making a donation in Bud’s memory to the Denville Little League, PO Box 347, Denville, NJ 07834 or to the Denville Blue Angels, PO Box 384.
Bud was born on December 30, 1932 in Paterson, NJ, to the late Joseph and Anna (Barnish) Strapecz. He lived in Boonton for 22 years, Denville for 37 years, and then Wooddale, PA for the last 26 years.
While in Boonton, Bud graduated from Boonton High School. He was a member of the American Legion Junior Bugle and Drum Corps. Bud was both musically and athletically inclined, excelling in swimming, wrestling, and baseball. He played semi-pro baseball in the Dover Twilight League as well as the North Jersey League. He loved this community and donated much of his time to the Denville Little League and the Denville Blue Angels, coaching both midget and JV Football, while he served as President for one year.
Bud was in the Denville Fire Department for six years during which he served as the Lieutenant of the First Aid Squad in Valley View. Additionally, he was a member of the Boonton Lanes ABC Bowling 250 Club, and Peace Pipe Country Club.
In 1971, Bud started the family business. He owned and operated Strapec Painting, proudly changing the name to Bud Strapec & Son in 1983. Three generations later, Strapec Painting is still a trusted business today.
When he wasn’t at work or giving of himself, Bud could be found outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Above all, he was a loving husband and a caring Dad, Pop-Pop, and Great-“Popsa-wopsa.” His family meant everything to him.
In retirement, he enjoyed a cup of coffee and conversation at the local diner with his friends every morning. In the evenings, he and his wife Alyce liked going out to dinner.
He leaves many happy memories to his dear wife, Alyce of 64 years; children Margie Moschella, Cynthia Strapec, Ty (Amy) Strapec, Judy Quackenbush, Lee-Anne (Marty) Prutzman, and Robin Henry; grandchildren Jennifer, Jason, Jane, Madison, Danielle, Jake, and Andy; great-grandchild Nathan, cousins Harold and Robert Drugac, and many more dear relatives and friends.
