Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Cobb of Rockaway, New Jersey, died Oct. 7, 2016 at the age of 91. He was born in Hammond, Indiana on January 16, 1925. He met Helen, his wife of 64 years, in Hammond, and she survives him. He had four daughters, and three daughters and their husbands survive him: Susan Cobb and Deane Perkins (Belfast, ME), Janet and Dennis Wachs (Thousand Oaks, CA), and Barbara Cobb and Blair Perkins (Budd Lake, NJ). His daughter Jean Cobb died in 2013. He had three grandchildren: Matthew Borie, Forrest Borie, and Julia Wachs.
Jim enlisted in the Navy right out of high school, and served in the Pacific in World War II. He worked in many locations across the United States as a field engineer for Western Electric for 40 years before retiring, with Bell Labs in Whippany, NJ as his last location. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rockaway, New Jersey until recent years when his health declined. After his retirement, he volunteered at St. Clare’s for many years, and with Helen, delivered meals for Meals on Wheels. His long and active life can be at least in part attributed to Dr. Feigin of Denville, NJ, who befriended and helped him cope with a number of chronic conditions.
