Henry Winstead, Devoted Husband of 60 years
“You are my Sunshine, My Only Sunshine..”
Henry Maurice Winstead, passed away on Friday, September 23rd surrounded by his family. He was 87 years young and has left us with cherished memories and the dear sound of that Southern drawl. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 10:30 am at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. Friends and relatives may visit on Friday, September 30th from 3-8 pm. Donations by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org may be made to the good work of the Denville Food Pantry, during this season of Thanksgiving.
Henry was born in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Henry and Maggie Winstead. After his schooling he joined the US Navy where he proudly served his country. The service took him to Springfield, NJ where he met Phyllis Heckmann. Soon after, the Rebel married the Yankee and they settled in Denville to raise their family. In 1966, Henry started H&W Tool Co., a business which is still in operation today, owned and run by his son. After his retirement, Henry could still be found at the shop. His favorite times were family gatherings, being with his grandchildren and watching all of their sporting events. He was so very proud of each of them. Most recently, Henry had the joy of becoming a Great Grandpa, five times! He and his beloved just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. His gifts of love and family certainly give all who knew him much to celebrate.
Surviving is his wife Phyllis of 60 years; their children Kim Palmer (Tom), Mary Beth Patterson (Steve), Rick Winstead (Robin) and Tricia Winstead; grandchildren Dana Palmer, Jacob Patterson (Y’vonne), Daniel and Kelly Patterson, Sarah Brzezinski (Tom), Stephanie Stone (Hugo), Amie Ferreira (Dan) and Ben Winstead; greats Max, Mason, Samantha, Luke and Eva. He is also survived by Mildred, Ann Marie and Amanda Heckmann and many more loving relatives, dear friends and acquaintances.
