Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shirley J. Norman passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home in Denville on Sunday, August 21, 2016. She was 92 years young.
Born and raised in Port Morris, NJ, she came to Denville at the age of 17. She married her soulmate, Robert W. Norman in 1941. They raised 5 wonderful children together. Shirley was very involved the Denville String Band, along with her husband before he passed in 1983. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A very dedicated worker, she worked for Siemens Building Technologies in Florham Park for over 20 years, retiring at the age of 80. In her spare time, she loved to crochet items for her family, from snow suits to blankets and scarves. Her main passion in life was her family. She showed them tough love and that family always comes first.
Left to keep her legacy alive are her beloved children, Dolores Huffert of Roxbury, Roberta Carper and her husband Kenny of Pittston, PA, Karyn Norman and her life partner Tony of Rockaway, Wayne Norman and his wife Annette of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Patti-Jo Jones and her husband Charley of Pittstown, PA; her cherished 12 grandchildren, especially Darryn McLaughlin and his wife Alison for taking care of her; her adored 18 great-grandchildren; and her special caregiver, Regina Plocki.
