Obituary of Helma C. Carpel
Please share a memory of Helma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helma C. Carpel, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86.
Born in Newark to the late Clarence and Marguerite Finkle, Helma was one of eight children. In her late teens, she met Sam Carpel. After a whirlwind romance, they married and settled in Belleville where they started their family. Helma graduated from beauty school and worked as a beautician and cosmetologist for many years. She worked at Vivian’s in Newark, a job which she very much enjoyed. Later she went on and worked for the phone company and then of course, her most cherished roles of Mother, Grandma, and Great Grandma. She loved baking and cooking and sharing her dishes with her family and friends. She loved to entertain and host parties. And she adored her cat Tabitha, who brought her much comfort in her later years. Above all, Helma’s greatest joy was to be surrounded by her family.
Predeceased by her husband Sam in 2001; she leaves loving memories to her daughter Dale Carpel; grandchildren Gary Trella and his wife Amy and Kimberly Cioletti and her husband Bryan; great grandchildren Derek Trella and Dylan, Jake and Matthew Cioletti; and many more loving relatives and friends.
