Obituary of Peter F. Koenig III
Please share a memory of Peter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peter F. Koenig III passed away on Monday, January 25th. He was 63 years young and has left wonderful memories to all who had the fortune of knowing him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20th at 10 am at the Chapel at St. Francis, Diamond Spring & Pocono Road, Denville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to the good work of St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital are welcome.
Born in Austria to Anna (nee Pohl) and the late Peter Jr., Peter moved to the United States as a young boy in 1955. His family settled in Port Jervis and then Denville in 1968. He graduated from Morris Knolls High where he excelled in academics and enjoyed playing baseball. He headed off to college and soon returned to help care for his father in his last months.
He worked as a postman for 29 years at the Montville Post Office. He enjoyed this job and the friends and acquaintances he made along the way. Peter was an avid golfer, a game that his father taught him. He enjoyed it so and loved being outdoors. Above all, Peter loved his family and possessed a kind hearted spirit that will never leave us.
Predeceased by his father Peter Jr., he leaves only happy memories to his loving Mother Anna; wife Cathy;his Aunt Maria Bower and many cousins in Austria; dear cousins Werner, Robert and Margaret Kalatschan; and many more friends and colleagues.
