Obituary of John H. Brinkman
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JOHN HAROLD BRINKMAN "Bop Pop" Founder of Brinkman Associates Design & Marketing Services, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015. He is survived by his wife Barbara Evelyn Darlington Brinkman, daughter Jennifer Chermak of Lincoln Park, NJ, and his son, John Jr. (Kristen) of Succasunna, NJ, as well as his six grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph, Meghan, Lauren, Marisa & Alex.
For the past 42 years John has been a resident of the White Meadow Lake community in Rockaway Township, NJ.
John grew up in Carlstadt, NJ, and was a graduate of The Art Students League of New York, where he met the love of his life, Barbara.
His early career was as an amalgam of art and music, going from his graphic design day job to his night gig of lead singer and guitarist with his band, The Chosen Few.
John then went on to open his own graphic design studio, Brinkman Associates, in 1980 and continuously received top honors and awards for his work. He was a member of Society of Illustrators in NYC, and the Commerce and Industry Association of NJ.
In 2002, in support of his granddaughter, Lauren, John set out to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Northern NJ chapter, earning him Man of the Year honors.
John was also the family photographer and enjoyed nothing more than attending the multitude of activities in which his grandchildren participated, presenting them with keepsake photo collages to commemorate every occasion.
He truly loved playing the game of golf, and was a past member of Mt. Tabor Country Club and a player in the Ultimate Senior Tour of Morris County.
John also enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family, and was a resident of the Ocean Club Condominium of Avalon, NJ, from 1985 to 2000.
John was a longtime member of the Church of the Saviour Episcopal Church in Denville, NJ. He was recently confirmed into the Roman Catholic faith, and belonged to St. Cecilia's parish in Rockaway, NJ.
He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, and as a generous, loyal and affable friend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 24th at 10 am St. Cecilia's Church, 70 Church St., Rockaway. Friends, fans and relatives may visit on Monday, November 23rd from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville.
