Obituary of Raymond Paul Westerdahl

Raymond Paul Westerdahl of Denville, NJ, passed away on November 9, 2015, at the age of 86.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Raymond moved to the Indian Lake section of Denville in 1968 and to the Franciscan Oaks Continuing Care Community in 2012.
Raymond served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. After receiving a PhD from the University of Chicago, he worked as a chemist for Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, NJ, until his retirement in 1995. He was president of the Picatinny Chapter of the Research Society of America and president of the professional union at Picatinny Arsenal. Raymond loved to sing and was a tenor in several choral groups, including the Morris Choral Society and the choir of the Presbyterian Church in Morristown, of which he was a long-time member.
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Carolyn A. (Lovejoy) Westerdahl. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth (Dolores) Westerdahl of Buffalo, MN, four nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his sister Grace (Robert) Borggren.
A memorial service will be held at the Morristown Presbyterian Church 57 East Park Place Morristown, NJ 07960 on December 1, at 2PM.
