My condolences to Art's family. Only just found out about his death. I have not seen Art in many years. I do remember the large family picnics at Grandpop and Grandma Lash's house when we were all little kids running around.
Sincerely ,
Bob Lash

My cool cousin Artie. :)
Three fond stories...
1. "Cute little kid"
My parents, Edward and Helen Lash, told me a cute story once about Artie as a small lad (as my Dad would say)...
He stopped by their house one day, as they lived in the same neighborhood, at the time.
Artie asked, "What are you having for supper?"
My mother answered, "Chicken".
Artie responded with, "Shitin!" That's all my parents ever have! Shitin, shiten all the time! They never have bologna!"
LOL :)
2. "My Hero"
I used to going swimming at the Rockaway River beach as a child. It was right around the corner from my house. Many kids from the area, used to walk or ride their bikes there.
One day when I was about nine, I was at the beach getting ready to leave. I packed up my stuff on my bike, to ride home. In order to go home, I had to cross the bridge over the river. Well, on this day, the neighborhood bullies were sitting on the bridge.
They put their feet up across the walkway and wouldn't let me pass. Needless to say. I was scared. For crying out loud! They were teenage boys and I was just a scared little girl!
Artie, about seventeen at the time, was sitting on the beach. He was observing the whole situation. He ran up to the bridge... and well, let's just say...they never ever bothered me again. :)
3. "Good Guy"
When my father passed in 1997, Artie showed up on my doorstep with his condolences and a bunch of hilarious stories, I had never heard before, about the Lash family. Things that happened before I was born. He had me laughing so hard, at a time in my life when I desperately needed a distraction and some fond memories to hold on too. <3
Rest in peace, my Cousin Artie <3 <3 <3
And my deepest sympathy to his loving family.

It seems so cruel to lose one so dear. Time may dull the pain, but we will never forget Art. Please accept my condolences.
May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand. - Irish Blessing

So sorry for your loss. Art was "the man" and we enjoyed his company when he came out to Utah for the Bluegrass Festival. He raised a wonderful family and he will always live in our hearts. God bless Art.

I am very sorry to hear about Art's passing. Though I have not seen Art in over 40 years I remember him from the Morris Hills Ice Hockey team which I was on with Art. I graduated a year after Art but in his years on the team we won a state championship and had some very good players like Art.
Art was a very popular guy and a good friend to many of us. It is obvious he carried that forward later in life with his family and friends. My condolences to the family.
