Obituary of Elaine Buchanan

Elaine Buchanan (nee Schwind), passed away following a brief illness, on September 24th. She was 82 years young. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 5th at 10:30 am at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. Interment to follow at the Denville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may visit on Sunday, October 4th from 1-3 & 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the good work of the Denville Community Church or the Eastern Star, Starlight Chapter are being accepted in her name. Born in Dover to the late George and Lillian Schwind, Elaine was one of two children. In 1955 she married her high school sweetheart Harold Buchanan after a five year courtship. The couple settled in Denville where they raised their three boys. She worked for several years as a dental assistant; but her most cherished roles were as a Wife, Mom, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Her family meant everything to her. She was an active member of the Eastern Star, Starlight Chapter for many years and a longtime member of the Denville Community Church. Elaine was kind, generous and always quick to lend a hand. She possessed a beautiful spirit which has not left us. She will be missed immeasurably, but never forgotten. She leaves happy memories to her loving husband Harold of 60 years; sons Kenneth (Barbara), Gary and Glenn (Lisa); grandchildren Allison Buchanan (Brian Park), and Kenny Buchanan (Tara); great grandson JR Buchanan; dear sister Gladys Sullivan, longtime friend Evelyn Tuttle; and many more loving relatives and dear friends.
