Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary A. Cocklin, “..twas Heaven here with you…” Mary A. Cocklin, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11th. She was 93 years young. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 18th at 10 am at St, Mary’s Church, Denville. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. Mary was born in Brooklyn; and lived in Jersey City, until relocating to Denville in 2000. She settled in at Cooks Pond, where she made friends quickly and enjoyed being a part of the community. She retired from Christ Hospital in 1988 where she had worked for over 20 years. She was a longtime parishioner at St. Nicholas’ in Jersey City and recently St. Mary’s, Denville. She was active with the Rosary Society and Nocturnal Society at St, Mary’s; served as a Eucharistic Minister; and stayed active with the Denville Seniors, performing as their Chaplain with the Wednesday morning group. She enjoyed traveling and celebrations; but above all, she loved being with her family. Mary was a kind, generous, often candid and resilient woman. She possessed a beautiful spirit which has not left us. Her smile and laughter will always remain a source of joy for our family. Predeceased by her husband Thomas and her siblings Agnes, Betty, Catherine, Helen and John; she leaves only happy memories to her daughters Ellen Sandman (George), Mary M. Cocklin, and Joan Turnbull (William); adored grandchildren and great grandchildren Kristian, Katie, Colin, Madelyn and Thomas; and many more loving relatives and friends.
