Obituary of Elsie R. Hunt
Please share a memory of Elsie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elsie R. Hunt (Tett) passed away at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ on her birthday, September 7, 2015 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease.
She was 90 years old.
Born in New York City, she moved to Hudson County as a child and had lived in the Indian Lake section of Denville since 1957. Elsie first visited Indian Lake in the 1940s.
In a career that started with general secretarial work soon after WWII, Elsie later developed a reputation in the Morris County area for her expertise in real estate documentation as both a legal secretary and office manager at James, Wyckoff, Vecchio & Pitman Law Firm and the David Marx Law Firm in Denville before fully retiring in her 80s.
She had a beautiful voice and a love of singing, performing with vocal groups after her retirement from full-time work. She enjoyed trying her luck on penny slot machines and buying lottery tickets. She was a member of the Indian Lake Community Club, the Denville Community Church and a volunteer at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville for many years.
Elsie was predeceased by her siblings George, Robert, Al, Doris, Edna and Dolores.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Edward Hunt of Denville and by her brother, William Tett of Santa Rosa, CA.
Elsie is also survived by her loving children, James Hunt and his wife Carolyn of Morris Plains, NJ and Diane Braybrook and her husband Ron of Belfast, ME; grandchildren, Jessica Hunt, Adam Hunt and his wife Louisa, Steven Braybrook and his wife Aimee, and David Braybrook and his wife Lauren; and great-grandson, Rhys Braybrook.
Funeral services will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ 07834 on Saturday September 12, 2015, at 10am. Interment will follow at Denville Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday the 11th from 2-4 & 7-9pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, NJ Chapter.
