Obituary of William Engels

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bill Engels, Green Pond William “Bill” Engels, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends. He was 62 years young. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 31st at 2pm at the Green Pond Bible Chapel, 1083 Green Pond Rd., Newfoundland, NJ 07435. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in his memory to the good work of the Green Pond Junior Sailing Program, c/o GPYC PO Box 322, Green Pond NJ 07435 or to the Bone Marrow Transplant Network at www.BMTinfonet.org. Born in Bayside, NY, Billy lived in Maplewood and recently Newfoundland where he and his wife raised their boys. He was the 4th generation to own and operate the family business, Engels Trucking Corp. He was a musician who loved playing his guitars. He played in a rock and roll band, his church band and was an avid sailor from a young age. Bill raced sailboats on Green Pond and Peconic Bay and stayed active with the Green Pond Yacht Club. Above all, he loved being with his family. They were his world. He was kind and generous, had a loving spirit, and always had a joke to share. He possessed an enthusiastic spirit which has not left us. The lives of everyone who had the good fortune of knowing him are better for it. He will be missed immeasurably, but never forgotten. He leaves only happy memories to his wife Kristen Dawson; sons Jamie and Jonathan; sisters Sheryl Zemanek, Carol White and Janet Engels Downing; loyal canine Rosie; and many loving relatives, friends and acquaintances.
