Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Gudor and Bates Families. Your Dad and Grandpa was a wonderful man and it was an honor for us to know him. We will truly miss the presence of his loving and gentle nature. Please find comfort in knowing that Laszlo's memory and legacy will live on for generations to come. Dear Gudor and Bates Families, I am so sorry for your loss. I did not know Mr. Gudor personally, but when I worked as a Morris County title searcher at the Hall of Records 30 years ago, I often used the maps on file there to locate properties. The maps along Route 80 were so beautifully done, so accurate and useful to me and my fellow title searchers. Only years later did I learn that the person behind this accurate and elegant work was your dear father/grandfather! He has left a lasting legacy through his work as well as his family. Amy Surowitz

BEST OF FRIENDS
I met Lazlo over 34 years ago when working at the New Jersey department of transportation. We liked each other instantly and I was soon assigned to work under him in his Survey crew (RJ-03). Working with him was never dull and almost always enjoyable. He inspired loyalty by the decent and caring treatment that he gave all of us who worked under him. I recall a time when the regional engineer handed us an urgent project that as he said needed to be done YESTERDAY. Lazlo said "my crew and I will get this three day job done today". (one day) Because of our respect and love for this man we all pulled together and got the job done before the end of the day. Fearing that it couldn't be done the regional engineer showed up on site moments after we finished. He was amazed and complimented Lazlo on a job well done. True to his caring ways Lazlo asked that not he but members of his crew each be given two hours of comp. time. (Hours off instead of money)
Over the years our friendship grew and never faded. Finally I retired to Florida near where he wintered. There with him in his nineties and me in my sixties our friendship was as close as ever. To say he was like a father to me would not be accurate we were BEST OF FRIENDS.
Goodbye Lazlo,
Greg Soldwedel
