Obituary of Salvatore A. Mastricova

Please share a memory of Salvatore to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Salvatore A. Mastricova passed away at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ on Memorial Day 2015, at the age of 92. He was born in New York City and lived for years in Holbrook, Long Island, NY before moving to Rockaway Township, NJ 3 years ago. Salvatore proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII as a Radioman Third Class and received the Good Conduct, Victory and American Theater Medals. He later had a brilliant career as a sculptor and scenic artist, working for the Metropolitan Opera House where he created sets for countless operas, and completed sets for plays such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Barefoot in the Park, and Man of La Mancha to mention a few. He also sculpted statues for the New York World's Fair and was instrumental in finalizing the creation of the famous Yum Yum Palace at Great Adventure. But, more than anything he was a devoted family man to his wife Mary and his two daughters. Salvatore will be sadly missed by his loving daughter Gerri and her husband Mark Bracaglia of Rockaway Twp., NJ, and his 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and his sisters Jean Nascarella and Adele Mastricova both of New York. A funeral service will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com on Friday May 29, 2015., at 9:30AM followed by entombment services at Washington Memorial Park in Mt. Sinai, Long Island, NY. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm.
