Obituary of William J. Malvey

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William J. Malvey, “Bill”, passed away at The Oaks At Denville on his 96th birthday on November 11, 2024, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Born in Waterbury, CT. He lived in Waterbury and Greenwich, CT, Parsippany and Basking Ridge, NJ and Southport, NC before moving to back to NJ to be closer to family in 2016.

Bill earned his Bachelor’s degree from William and Mary College, was drafted into the Army in January 1951, serving until his discharge as a Corporal in December 1952, and worked for many years as a salesman for Century Brass Products Company and its successors before retiring in 1996.

Bill was a natural born salesman, he loved the NY Yankees, driving anywhere while navigating by maps (no GPS for him), collecting coins, baseball cards, and model cars, watching westerns, listening to Willie Nelson and big band music, and taking his children camping and on family trips to the Jersey Shore.  He kept active his whole life, exercising daily, playing golf, softball, and tennis, which he did into his 80's.  He hated to let a good coupon go to waste. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Joan Malvey in 2018.

Bill is survived by his loving children Lynn and her husband John Conover of Sparta, NJ, Eileen Malvey of Denville, NJ, Mark and his wife Annie Malvey of Grand Haven, Ml,

Steven and his wife Vicky Malvey of Burlington, NJ and Ken and his wife Lori Malvey of Newton, NJ. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Sean, Dylan, Dayna, Luke, Jonah, Matthew and Christina and was predeceased by his grandson Christopher.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday November 25, 2024, at 10:00AM at St. Mary's Church 15 Myers Avenue Denville, NJ 07834 under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com.
