Obituary of Antonia Goffredo
Antonia “Nonna” Goffredo (Cortese) passed away at Morris View Health Center on October 14, 2024, at the age of 94.
Born in Bari, Italy to Vito and Catrina (DiBari) Cortese, she came to the United States in 1953 and lived in Brooklyn, NY before moving to the Indian Lake section of Denville, NJ in 1967.
Antonia worked for many years as a machine operator for Advanced Pressure Castings in Denville, NJ. She also worked in the fitting room for 5 years at TJMaxx in Rockaway and loved it. In her spare time, she loved shopping and cooking, her lasagna was a family favorite. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grand dog, Mindy.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 39 years, Michele Goffredo in 1997.
Antonia is survived by her loving children Maria and her husband Tom Scholz of Denville, NJ, Vito and his wife Kirsten Goffredo of Sarasota, FL and Nicholas Goffredo of Denville, NJ. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren Anthony, Marina, and Andrew Scholz, Stephanie and her husband Sean McKeown, Michael, and Christopher Goffredo, as well as her cherished great grand twins Conner and Declan, and her loving siblings Speranza Dagostino, Andrea Cortese and Angelo Cortese.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 18, 2024, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday October 19, at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Church in Denville. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover, NJ.
